CHARACTER INFO
Name: Cronus Ampora
Series: Homestuck
Canon Point: Post death, part two of the intermission game
Reference: here
Age: approx 19.5
Gender: Male
Suitability: Cronus is technically an adult and actively pursues relationships, especially ones that are physical in nature. He has horrible luck with this—he has failed to get any action at all despite his efforts. An environment like this would be interesting for him.
Appearance: Standing at about 5’8”, Cronus is a violet-blooded troll, and due to that he shares physical characteristics of other sea-dwellers. He has grey skin, black hair—which he slicks back—fins on the side of his face and gills on his neck and side. Like other trolls, his horns are candy-corn coloured and are shaped to look wavy. He has two distinguishing scars on the side of his forehead (gasp! A dual scar) that are in the shape of two lightning bolts. He also walks around with an unlit cigarette hanging out of his mouth.
Background: According to Aranea, at some point in the past, Cronus was a dedicated wizard. He believed it was his duty to defeat an unidentified evil wizard. This evil wizard supposedly tried to kill him when he was young but the spell was deflected and resulted in the scars on his forehead. At some point, Cronus became disillusioned with magic. The reason for this isn’t currently known.

One thing that is known for sure is that Cronus was one of the twelve original trolls who played Sgrub. Their session lasted about three sweeps (or six and a half years) and ended up becoming unwinnable due to Lord English, and they had to scratch their game. This enabled the start of the new session where they were the ancestors for the beta trolls. Meenah killed all of them through a bomb before the Scratch was completed, which has enabled them to exist as ghosts in dream bubbles.

Personality: Cronus can be described as a jerk who tries too hard. He strives for attention and doesn’t seem to understand why no one wants anything to do with him. He thinks just because he is “practically royalty” people should feel honoured to date him. After all, he’s the one who would be making the sacrifice by dating lower in the hemospectrum! Because he’s willing to do this, that obviously means he’s a “cool, progressive, easy going dude.” He seems to firmly believe that if he goes out of his way to be nice to someone, he should get something out of it.

He tries to say that social status and his position in the hemospectrum mean nothing to him, but it really does. It seems that his effort to garner attention have convinced him that if he acts a certain way, more people will like him. This just isn’t the case. He doesn’t seem to realise that these instances just make others dislike him more because it’s so disrespectful.
Of course, there is part of him that just doesn’t care. Saying he is a jerk is an understatement; he’s the personification of the stereotypical “nice guy” who doesn’t understand why he’s been “friend zoned” (and doesn’t see or care how either of those attitudes are just horrible.) He hits on everyone and doesn’t bother with backing off when he’s been asked to. (Or at least in the case of Mituna, where he ignored Mituna’s request to stop touching him.) He can be cruel in his speech, tossing out insults left and right, even while trying to compliment someone.

Cronus is talented at casting blame on other people and he is quick to get angry. During moments like these, he is capable of saying horrible things, such as when he berated Mituna. “you are a brain damaged reject on a team full of rejects. a rejects reject. i vwould havwe culled you myself if that vword meant vwhat it should havwe on our planet.” And yet, despite the way he snaps at Mituna, he still considers them friends in some manner.

Meenah is someone he has always pursued and regardless of if he’s aware of it or not, he’s put her on a pedestal as someone ideal, even if it’s obvious that she wants nothing to do with him. He appears to be a bit more forthcoming with her about his feelings—with the exception being regarding his being “humankin.” He is also quick to disregard her scorn in regards to being mean to Mituna. When she calls him out on it, he is sure to mention the Condesce and her treatment of the Psiionic.

Cronus identifies himself as human—specifically a 1950s greaser. It’s most likely a ruse to get more attention, as Meenah suspects, but even still, Cronus is insistent on it. He seems to like Kankri because of his acceptance of Cronus’s ‘species dysforia.’ He also enjoys making music, but apparently it sucks and no one wants to listen to it. He’s trying to model himself into an artistic “cool” type of person, which is why he refuses to join Meenah’s army—he’s trying to be peaceful and introspective, not aggressive. Which is almost laughable.

Character Powers/Abilities/Skills: At some point, Cronus was a wizard which implies that he’s knowledgeable about magic and could probably use it well. The problem being is that he is completely disinterested in that now. His choice weaponry is Ahab’s Crosshairs, which implies that in a combat situation, he is probably a good shot. As a sea-dweller, he is capable of breathing underwater and has the potential to be more violent than other trolls.

Third Person Sample:
What was he doing last? He was certain that he’d been in the middle of talking to Meenah. He’d talked to Mituna. He’d worked on his music. He remembered these things. It was like he just did them, and yet it felt ages ago. He felt groggy…and just, weird. It took him longer than it should have for him to figure out how he felt. But when that moment of clarity hit him, he realised he felt alive. There was a certain heaviness in his body that he was unfamiliar to having.

It wasn’t like the dream bubbles. That was kind of like living. He had his memories. He had a lot of free time to explore new possibilities. He could still feel things. But this was different. He couldn’t explain it, but he could at least feel that this was different. He hadn’t decided how he felt about it yet. Mostly because it was obvious that he was in the middle of fucking nowhere.

At least at first.

That changed when something attacked him. He tried to respond quickly enough to be able to defend himself, but he failed in doing so. It had been far too long since he needed to fight at all. He was out of practise and he was unarmed. It was pathetic and it was possible that he might’ve just died again had he not been saved. His ego was a little burned because of that, but the fact that his saviour was attractive lessened the burn. Cronus was really just disappointed that he didn’t get a chance to proposition them; it was a shame! There was so much potential

It wasn’t long before he found himself in his new dwelling. It was the complete opposite of anything he ever knew. It was shabby. Rundown. Small. No one was around so it didn’t matter if he indulged in his displeasure with it. Even if he was okay with acting like castes didn’t matter, he really wasn’t used to going without, and this hive certainly lacked the grandeur he was used to.

He did a quick sweep of his new dwelling, taking in all the things that were there, and more importantly all the things that weren’t. And then he saw mirror. There wasn’t anything particularly special about it. It was just a mirror. He could see his refection in it. His irises. Then he picked it up and he could just tell that there was more to the mirror than met the eye. He could communicate with it through magic.
He wasn’t sure what how he felt about that.
